1. Module Overview

The HSN Module allows you to manage Harmonized System of Nomenclature (HSN) codes for your products and materials. This module helps you keep track of all applicable HSN codes, their corresponding standard tax rates, unit types, and exception tax limits, ensuring that your invoicing, billing, and tax calculations are compliant.

2. How to Access (Navigation)

Navigate to the HSN module from the left side menu, or search for HSN using the global search bar.

3. Adding a New Record (Create)

  1. Click the + Add Hsn button located at the top of the page.
  2. A new form window will appear.
  3. Fill in the required fields.
  4. Click Save to create the record.

Form Fields:

  • Hsn Code: The standardized numerical code for the product category.
  • Hsn Name: A descriptive name for the goods classified under this code.
  • Tax Rate: The standard percentage tax rate applied to this HSN code (e.g., 12, 18).
  • Unit Type: The standard unit of measurement for these goods (e.g., Pieces, Kg, Meters).
  • Is GST: Indicates whether this specific HSN code falls under the Goods and Services Tax framework.
  • Exception Tax: A checkbox that, when selected, enables conditional tax rates based on a specific price threshold.
  • Exception Limit: The threshold amount (price limit). If the product price exceeds this limit, the Exception Tax Rate is applied instead of the standard Tax Rate (Only visible if Exception Tax is checked).
  • Exception Tax Rate: The alternate percentage tax rate used when the Exception Limit is crossed (Only visible if Exception Tax is checked).
  • Sort No: Determines the priority or display order of this HSN code in dropdown menus across the application.

4. Viewing and Searching (Read)

Upon accessing the module, the page displays a table containing all existing HSN codes.

Table Fields:

  • Hsn Code: The standardized numerical code for the product category.
  • Hsn Name: A descriptive name for the goods classified under this code.
  • Tax Rate: The standard percentage tax rate applied to this HSN code (e.g., 12, 18).
  • Unit Type: The standard unit of measurement for these goods (e.g., Pieces, Kg, Meters).
  • Action: Buttons to edit or delete the specific HSN row.

Search Functionality:

  • Global Search: Use the main search box at the top right of the table to find matches across all data columns simultaneously.
  • Column-Specific Search: Use the individual search boxes at the bottom of each column to filter by specific fields (e.g., searching only within the “Hsn Code” column).
  • Exact Match Search: Toggle the Enable Exact Match Search switch located below the table. When enabled, searches will only return results that exactly match your typed value, ignoring partial matches.

Customizing Table View:

  • Column Visibility: Click the “Column visibility” button to hide or show specific columns.
  • Page Length: Adjust how many records are displayed per page using the pagination dropdown (e.g., 10, 25, 50 rows).
